2008 HONOLULU RAINBOW FILM FESTIVAL SEX POSITIVE
USA, 2008
Run Time: 76min
Richard Berkowitz, a BDSM- hustler-turned-
AIDS activist in the 1980s, is unknown for his
contribution to the invention of safer sex – sexy
safer sex. Speaking from the epicenter of the
epidemic in NYC, Berkowitz demanded solutions to
the problem before anyone would listen. Along with
Dr. Joseph Sonnabend, a controversial virologist
and AIDS doctor, and beloved activist and musician
Michael Callen, Berkowitz pushed for fun and
kinky sex with latex precaution. Mr. Berkowitz tells
his story to a world who never wanted to listen.
